Kuala Lumpur's main public transport provider is ramping up its service capacity ahead of Merdeka Day celebrations, with round-the-clock operations planned for key rail and bus routes during the long weekend.

Rapid KL announced that designated services will operate continuously on August 30 and August 31, ensuring commuters can access transport throughout the festive period as crowds flock to celebration venues and public gatherings across the capital.

The extended operations are part of the company's efforts to manage increased passenger volumes during the National Day period, one of Malaysia's most significant public holidays. The 24-hour service designation applies to selected routes rather than the entire network, with specific lines to be confirmed by the operator.

Malaysians are expected to travel extensively during the Merdeka Eve and National Day period, with many heading to city centers, shopping districts, and cultural events. The transport extension is intended to reduce congestion and provide reliable alternatives to private vehicles during peak celebration hours.

Commuters are advised to check Rapid KL's official announcements for the complete list of services operating around the clock during this period.
