Rapido launches Ownly food delivery service in Hyderabad

Rapido has rolled out its Ownly food delivery service to Hyderabad, marking the platform's second major city expansion following its Bengaluru launch. The move signals the ride-hailing company's intent to diversify revenue streams through alternative logistics models in India's metropolitan centers.

Unlike conventional food delivery platforms that charge restaurants a percentage-based commission, Ownly operates on a subscription fee model. This approach aims to offer restaurant partners more predictable cost structures while enabling lower delivery charges for consumers. The service currently partners with over 20,000 restaurants across its operational markets.

The subscription-based model represents a distinct positioning in India's fiercely competitive food delivery sector, where platforms like Swiggy and Zomato have long dominated through commission-based arrangements. By shifting to a fixed-fee structure, Ownly targets restaurants seeking alternatives to the variable commission rates that can substantially impact their margins.
