Rare sea turtle nests on California beach in historic first

A nesting olive ridley sea turtle has been documented on a Southern California beach in an unprecedented event for the region. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) confirmed the discovery of the nest near Seal Beach on September 16, marking the first recorded instance of this species laying eggs in the area.

The olive ridley is typically found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.
