Rathgama motorcyclist injured in armed shooting incident
A 25-year-old man was shot and wounded while travelling by motorcycle in Rathgama on Wednesday evening. The victim sustained a leg injury from a firearm and received medical treatment following the attack.

A motorcyclist was targeted in a shooting in the Rathgama area at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, according to reports. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Malindu Prasan, a local resident, was struck by gunfire during the incident.
The attack involved the use of a T56 firearm, authorities confirmed. Prasan sustained a gunshot wound to one of his legs and was transported to the National Hospital for medical treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Police have not yet disclosed details regarding the motive behind the attack or whether a suspect has been apprehended.
The incident marks another armed attack in the Western Province, adding to growing concerns over firearm-related violence in the region.
