Ratnapura residents face 13-hour water supply suspension for maintenance
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has announced a scheduled water outage across multiple areas of Ratnapura on September 30 to facilitate critical maintenance work at the Kolonna Water Treatment Plant.

Water supplies to several districts in Ratnapura will be cut off for 13 hours today as the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) undertakes essential maintenance at the Kolonna Water Treatment Plant.
The suspension is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 10:00 p.m., affecting multiple residential and commercial areas across the district. The NWSDB advised residents to store sufficient water before the outage commences.
The maintenance work is part of the board's ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability and efficiency of water distribution infrastructure in the region. Residents are encouraged to plan their water consumption accordingly during the scheduled suspension period.
The NWSDB stated that normal water supply would resume once the maintenance operations are completed. Further updates regarding the restoration of services will be made available through official channels.
