Razorpay, one of India's most prominent payment infrastructure providers, has introduced Vulcan, a proprietary artificial intelligence model designed to optimise payment processing and reduce failed transactions. The model was developed by analysing patterns across four billion transactions and three trillion data points accumulated on the platform, providing it with extensive learning material to identify transaction characteristics and anomalies.
The AI system is engineered to enhance payment success rates by predicting and mitigating factors that typically lead to transaction failures. By analysing historical transaction data and customer behaviour patterns, Vulcan can optimise the payment approval process and reduce friction during checkout, a critical factor in improving conversion rates for merchants and service providers.
Beyond transaction authorisation, the model incorporates fraud detection capabilities to identify suspicious payment patterns and protect both merchants and consumers. The system's machine learning architecture enables it to continuously adapt to emerging fraud methodologies, maintaining effectiveness against evolving threats in the digital payment ecosystem.
Razorpay has also integrated personalisation features into Vulcan, allowing the checkout experience to be tailored based on individual user profiles and preferences. This customisation aims to streamline the payment process and enhance user experience across diverse merchant platforms relying on Razorpay's infrastructure.
The development of Vulcan reflects the fintech sector's broader pivot toward artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to address operational challenges and competitive pressures in India's rapidly expanding digital payments market.
