A Perth property owner has uncovered an alleged conflict of interest after learning that real estate agents hired to market his home were also the principals in the company that purchased it for AUD 705,000. Chao "Jack" Wu said he was not informed of this dual role and only discovered the connection through subsequent examination of corporate records. The homeowner expressed concerns that the property may have been sold below market value, commissioning a retrospective valuation that estimated the property's worth at AUD 800,000—approximately AUD 95,000 more than the sale price. The real estate agents have contested the higher valuation and denied any wrongdoing in the transaction. Western Australia's Consumer Protection division has formally cautioned the agency regarding the alleged conflict of interest, highlighting concerns about transparency in the transaction.
