Real estate emerged as the strongest performer in India's services economy during June, recording year-on-year growth of 24.7 percent, according to the latest Index of Services Production data. The surge in property and construction-related activities reflected sustained demand in residential and commercial segments across major metropolitan centres.

The services sector as a whole demonstrated resilience, with 18 of 19 tracked sub-sectors expanding during the month. This broad-based growth underscores the diversification of India's services economy and suggests sustained economic momentum across multiple segments. Beyond real estate, sectors including hospitality, financial services, and professional services all contributed to the expansion.

Aircraft maintenance and air transport operations posted the month's only contraction, declining 6 percent year-on-year. The sector remained under pressure from volatile international travel patterns and operational challenges in the aviation industry. Nevertheless, the isolated weakness in air transport was offset by strength elsewhere in the services landscape.

Analysts attribute the June performance to a combination of factors, including robust domestic demand, monsoon-related business activity, and recovery patterns following the preceding months. The sustained momentum in real estate particularly reflects continued urbanisation trends and investment appetite across Indian cities. The services sector, which accounts for a substantial share of India's gross domestic product, continues to serve as a key growth engine for the broader economy.
