The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the alert at 8 a.m., signaling dangerous weather conditions across the capital region and surrounding provinces. The red warning represents the highest rainfall alert category, indicating an imminent threat of serious flooding and related hazards.

The southwest monsoon, locally known as the habagat, has brought heavy precipitation to the region, creating hazardous conditions for residents and commuters. Pagasa advised communities in vulnerable areas to prepare for potential flooding and to exercise caution in flood-prone zones.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces have experienced significant rainfall in recent weeks, with infrastructure and communities already stressed by water accumulation. The red rainfall warning urged residents to remain vigilant and to follow emergency protocols established by local disaster management authorities.

Officials recommended that residents avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors where possible. The weather bureau indicated it would continue to monitor atmospheric conditions and update warnings as the monsoon system progresses throughout the day.
