Red rainfall warning issued for Bataan, parts of Luzon

Bataan and several other areas across Luzon were placed under red rainfall warning Wednesday morning as the southwest monsoon system intensified, bringing heavy precipitation to the region. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued the alert at 11 a.m., signaling dangerous weather conditions across multiple localities.

The red-level warning indicates the most severe rainfall threat, with authorities cautioning residents in affected areas to prepare for potential flooding and landslides. The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, has been responsible for the ongoing wet weather pattern affecting much of northern and central Luzon.

In response to the hazardous conditions, school classes were suspended Wednesday across areas impacted by the rainfall warning. Local government units advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel through flood-prone zones and hilly terrain.

Metereological officials continued monitoring the monsoon system's movement and intensity, with updates expected throughout the day as conditions evolved.
