Regional party demands government address Rayalaseema's persistent grievances

The Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi (RRS), a regional political organization, has pressed state authorities to prioritize addressing chronic issues plaguing the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The party has highlighted systemic gaps in infrastructure development, agricultural support, and water resource management that have persisted despite previous assurances from successive governments.

Rayalaseema, comprising the districts of Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur, and Chittoor, has historically faced acute water scarcity and limited irrigation facilities, constraining agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods. The RRS contends that inadequate investment in irrigation projects and insufficient allocation of water from Krishna and Pennar river systems have aggravated the region's vulnerability to drought cycles.

The organization has called for comprehensive development initiatives including completion of pending irrigation schemes, enhanced groundwater management, and increased budgetary allocation for rural infrastructure. The RRS has demanded that the state government formulate a dedicated action plan with measurable timelines to address these grievances.

Local stakeholders have echoed concerns that Rayalaseema's development has lagged compared to coastal and northern districts, despite the region's significant agricultural and mineral resources. The RRS's intervention reflects mounting pressure on policymakers to chart a more inclusive growth strategy for the economically disadvantaged region.
