Regional powers condemn Houthi strikes on Saudi airport

Four regional powers issued a unified statement on Wednesday condemning attacks by Yemen's Houthi militant group targeting Riyadh's King Fahd International Airport, signalling deepening concern over escalating security threats in the Middle East.

The joint condemnation from Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia characterised the airport strikes as a "dangerous escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext," according to statements released from the capitals.

The attacks underscore mounting tensions in the Arabian Peninsula, where the Iran-backed Houthi movement has intensified its militant operations against Saudi infrastructure. The group, which controls much of northern Yemen following years of civil conflict, has previously claimed responsibility for drone and missile attacks targeting civilian and military installations across the kingdom.

The coordinated response from the four nations reflects broader regional alignment on security issues and demonstrates growing international concern about the destabilising impact of Houthi operations on one of the world's critical aviation and commercial hubs.
