Andhra Pradesh Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy has sought to allay concerns raised by farmers protesting against the Reliance data centre project planned for Bhogapuram, emphasising the employment opportunities the facility will generate for the region.
The government requires 855 acres to complete the project but has currently acquired just 25 acres, according to official statements. The shortfall has triggered resistance from agricultural communities whose land forms part of the planned development zone.
Reddysaid most farmers in the area are cooperating with the acquisition process and urged local residents not to be swayed by misinformation regarding the project. He stressed that the data centre would bring substantial economic benefits to the district through job creation and infrastructure development.
The project represents a significant investment for Reliance in developing data centre infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, though land acquisition remains a critical hurdle to moving forward with construction. Officials have not yet announced a revised timeline for completing the land acquisition process.
