Reliance Q2 earnings: Oil & gas flat as chemicals face headwinds
Reliance Industries' second-quarter results will test investor confidence as its oil and gas division treads water while retail and energy segments face mounting pressure from softer demand.

Reliance Industries is set to report second-quarter results that will offer a mixed picture of India's largest conglomerate, with its oil and gas exploration business expected to maintain flat earnings despite broader market challenges.
The oil and gas division is projected to deliver earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) of Rs 4,973 crore, holding steady from the preceding quarter. This stasis underscores the headwinds facing the company's core energy business amid global crude price volatility and demand uncertainties in key markets.
Investor focus will centre on the performance of Reliance's chemicals-to-oil (O2C) segment, which analysts suggest may provide relief from weakness in retail operations and petroleum products divisions. The O2C business, encompassing petrochemicals and specialty products, remains a critical earnings engine and potential bright spot in an otherwise challenging quarter.
Retail and consumer-facing segments are expected to show subdued performance as consumer spending patterns remain under pressure across India's slower economic growth phase. Margin compression and competitive intensity continue to squeeze profitability in these divisions, offsetting volume growth gains.
Reliability of quarterly guidance and management commentary on demand recovery prospects will be closely scrutinized by markets seeking clarity on the conglomerate's near-term trajectory and capital allocation priorities amid an uncertain macroeconomic environment.
