Relief supplies reach 720 flood-affected families in Andhra Pradesh

Relief materials have been distributed to 720 families across five villages in Burja mandal of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, providing immediate assistance to communities impacted by recent flooding. The distribution included essential commodities and rice supplies to residents whose livelihoods have been disrupted by the disaster.

The flooding has caused extensive agricultural damage, with crop losses reported across more than 3,000 acres in the affected villages. Farmers in the region face significant financial hardship as they assess the full extent of damage to their standing crops and agricultural assets.

Meanwhile, civil infrastructure repairs are also underway in the area. The Allina causeway has been restored following damage sustained during the floods, helping to improve connectivity and movement in the region. The completion of such repairs is critical for enabling normalcy to return to flood-affected areas.

The MARKFED Director has urged the government to expedite the release of input subsidies to support farmers in their recovery efforts. Agricultural input subsidies are seen as essential to help affected farmers rebuild their operations and prepare for the next planting season. Officials have indicated that timely disbursement of these financial support measures will be crucial in preventing further economic distress in the region.
