MANILA — The Carmelite Missionaries have established Silong Palau, a drop-in center in Kaliraya, Quezon City, designed to serve the city's homeless and street-dwelling population. The facility offers access to washing amenities and basic hygiene services to vulnerable residents with limited access to such necessities.

The center received formal blessing from Bishop Elias Ayuban Jr., CMF, of the Cubao diocese, underscoring the initiative's significance within the local religious community. The Carmelite Missionaries, a women's religious institute, developed the project as part of their broader mission to support marginalized populations in the capital region.

The opening of Silong Palau reflects growing efforts by faith-based organizations to address homelessness and poverty in Metro Manila. Drop-in centers such as this provide essential services to street dwellers while offering a dignified space for individuals to access basic facilities often unavailable to those living without permanent shelter.

The facility represents one of several community-led initiatives aimed at improving conditions for homeless residents across Quezon City, one of the capital's largest and most densely populated municipalities.
