Religious teacher pleads not guilty to sexual assault charge in Ipoh

IPOH, Sept 28 — The ustazah, whose identity is protected under Malaysian law, appeared before the Sessions Court here to face the charge. According to court records, the alleged offence involves a minor and occurred at a location related to the school premises.
The accused, who has been teaching religious studies at the institution, was represented by counsel during the proceedings. She maintained her innocence as the charge was read to her in court.
Under Malaysian law, sexual assault charges involving minors carry significant penalties upon conviction. The case has been set for further hearing as investigations continue and the prosecution prepares its evidence.
