The French automaker's latest offering adds to its portfolio of hybrid vehicles targeting environmentally conscious buyers in India's competitive SUV segment. The new Duster hybrid combines a conventional 1.8-litre petrol engine with two electric motors, designed to optimize fuel consumption and reduce emissions during urban and highway driving.
The hybrid system architecture allows the electric motors to assist the petrol engine during acceleration while recovering energy during braking and coasting. This regenerative capability aims to minimize fuel consumption during typical driving patterns, with Renault claiming an average mileage of 29 kmpl across various driving conditions.
The Duster has been a popular choice among Indian consumers seeking capable SUVs with practical features and reliable performance. The introduction of the hybrid variant positions the model to appeal to buyers prioritising fuel economy without compromising on power delivery or driving dynamics.
The Rs 16.99 lakh price point places the hybrid Duster competitively within the mid-size SUV segment, where demand for efficient powertrains has grown among Indian customers facing rising fuel costs. The vehicle is expected to appeal to both urban and semi-urban buyers seeking a balance between practicality, efficiency and value.
