Retailers to display unit prices under expanded Singapore pilot scheme
Don Don Donki, RedMart and several online grocery platforms will implement unit pricing requirements from October 1st as part of a widened consumer protection initiative.

Major retailers including discount chain Don Don Donki and e-commerce grocer RedMart are set to join an expanded pilot programme requiring the display of unit prices, beginning October 1st.
The initiative aims to enhance price transparency for consumers, enabling shoppers to make more informed purchasing decisions by comparing the cost per unit across different product sizes and brands. Unit pricing displays the price of goods relative to a standardised measurement such as per kilogramme or per litre.
The expanded pilot extends the scheme beyond its initial participants to include a broader range of retail formats, encompassing both physical stores and online grocery platforms. This phased approach allows authorities and retailers to assess implementation challenges and consumer response before any potential wider rollout.
Consumers shopping at participating retailers will be able to identify better value products more easily, potentially intensifying price competition among retailers and putting downward pressure on consumer goods prices across Singapore's retail sector.
