Retired Colonel Rajasinghe takes helm of Civil Aviation Authority

Retired Colonel Ranjith Rajasinghe has assumed the position of Chairman at the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, marking a significant leadership change at the organisation responsible for regulating the nation's aviation sector.

The appointment brings military and administrative experience to the helm of the authority, which oversees civil aviation operations, safety standards, and airport management across the country. The Civil Aviation Authority plays a critical role in maintaining aviation safety protocols and ensuring compliance with international aviation standards.

Rajasinghe's appointment comes as Sri Lanka continues to rebuild its aviation infrastructure and international connectivity following economic challenges that impacted the country's tourism and transport sectors in recent years.

The authority operates under the purview of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and manages key aviation facilities including Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka's primary gateway for international air traffic. The organisation is also responsible for licensing pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, and other aviation professionals operating within Sri Lankan airspace.
