Revilla seeks dismissal of P92M malversation case before Sandiganbayan

MANILA — Former Senator Bong Revilla has asked the Sandiganbayan Third Division to throw out his malversation case related to an alleged ghost infrastructure project in Bulacan valued at more than P92 million.

Revilla filed a motion for leave accompanied by a demurrer to evidence, according to Dennis Pulma, clerk of court of the Sandiganbayan's Third Division, who disclosed the development on Wednesday.

A demurrer to evidence is a legal motion challenging the sufficiency of evidence presented by the prosecution, effectively arguing that the case lacks merit even if all allegations are proven true.

The former legislator's move comes as part of his legal strategy to contest the charges against him. The Sandiganbayan is expected to evaluate the filing in the coming proceedings.

Revilla has consistently maintained his innocence in various cases brought against him over the years.
