Rice inflation moderates in Occidental Mindoro as fuel costs ease

CALAPAN CITY — Occidental Mindoro recorded a marked decline in rice inflation during July, with price increases dropping to 13.7 percent compared to 17.8 percent registered in June, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported.
The provincial office of the PSA attributed the cooling in rice inflation primarily to easing fuel costs, which have had a cascading effect on transportation and distribution expenses throughout the province.
Supervising Statistical Specialist Creissa Anne Untalan, who oversees the PSA's operations in Occidental Mindoro, highlighted the link between fuel price movements and consumer food costs in her analysis of the July inflation data.
The moderation in rice inflation, a critical food staple for Filipino households, suggests some relief in the cost of living for residents of the western Mindoro province. The trend reflects broader patterns observed across regional markets as global energy prices have shown signs of stabilization in recent weeks.
