Rights group calls for removal of India's representative at International IDEA

The Indian Human Rights Monitoring (IHRM) has formally petitioned International IDEA, the intergovernmental organisation supporting democracy worldwide, to remove Gyanesh Kumar from his role representing India in the organisation's leadership structure.
In a letter addressed to International IDEA's Secretary-General, IHRM State President Felix J. Pulludan requested either the immediate replacement of Kumar or alternative measures available under the organisation's statutes and procedural rules. The petition appears linked to concerns that prompted a call for an independent review of Kumar's position.
The IHRM, which monitors human rights developments across India, did not publicly elaborate on the specific grounds for its request. International IDEA, headquartered in Stockholm, works with democratic institutions and civil society organisations across multiple continents to strengthen electoral processes and political participation.
