Road overbridge project nears completion in Vellore town

Work on the road overbridge (ROB) spanning the railway line at Vellore town is in its final stages, marking a significant step toward improving traffic flow on one of the region's key thoroughfares. The project targets the Krishnagiri-Ranipet main road, a vital commercial and transport corridor in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
The new overbridge will replace the existing manned railway level crossing, designated as LC 128, which has long been a bottleneck for vehicular movement. The level crossing has frequently caused traffic congestion as vehicles wait for train movements and manual gate operations, disrupting the smooth passage of commuters and commercial traffic.
Once operational, the ROB is expected to decongest the main road by enabling uninterrupted vehicle flow across the railway line. The project aligns with infrastructure development efforts aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel times in the Vellore region.
Authorities have indicated that the overbridge construction is progressing on schedule, with final finishing touches and safety compliance checks underway. The completion of the project is anticipated to provide relief to daily commuters and freight operators who rely on the Krishnagiri-Ranipet corridor for their transportation needs.
