MANILA — The legal team representing Leyte Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez announced plans Thursday to submit a supplemental counter-affidavit to the Office of the Ombudsman in an ongoing matter. The filing will incorporate sworn statements from 25 former drivers and security aides previously employed by ex-Ako Bicol party-list Representative Elizaldy Co, according to Romualdez's counsel Ade Fajardo. The move represents an escalation in the legal dispute between the two political figures, with Romualdez's camp bolstering its position through corroborating witness testimony. The supplemental affidavit is expected to provide additional factual documentation to support the representative's counter-claims in the case before the constitutional body. The Ombudsman, as the Philippines' independent anti-corruption office, investigates allegations against public officials and processes related legal filings from interested parties.
