RON95 fuel subsidy quota restored to 300 litres monthly
Malaysia has reversed a five-month reduction in the monthly subsidised RON95 petrol quota, restoring it to 300 litres per vehicle. The move represents a significant relief for motorists facing rising fuel costs.

The decision to reinstate the higher fuel quota marks a shift in the government's subsidy management strategy. The quota had been trimmed to 200 litres per month in April, a measure authorities had implemented to control subsidy expenditures and encourage fuel efficiency among drivers.
With the restoration to 300 litres monthly, vehicle owners will regain access to greater quantities of subsidised RON95 petrol, effectively reducing their monthly fuel expenses. The previous restriction had compelled many motorists to purchase additional fuel at market rates once their monthly allocation was exhausted, particularly those with longer commutes or higher fuel consumption needs.
The government's reversal reflects concerns about the impact of the reduced quota on household budgets and economic activity. Transport operators, delivery services, and commuters in outlying areas had been among those most affected by the tighter allocation limits.
The reimplementation of the 300-litre quota is expected to provide immediate relief at petrol pumps nationwide, though authorities have not announced changes to current fuel pricing structures under the subsidy programme.
