Ronaldo eyes Asian Champions League glory with Saudi club Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr's pursuit of Asian Champions League success comes as Saudi clubs continue to reshape the continental landscape following substantial investment in foreign talent. Since 2023, the five Saudi Pro League representatives in the tournament have collectively spent over $2 billion acquiring international players, signalling the region's growing financial muscle in football.

The defending champions, Al-Ahli, will attempt to secure a third consecutive title this season. Goalkeeper and captain Edouard Mendy, who joined from English Premier League side Chelsea in 2023, expressed the club's ambition ahead of the tournament. "This is the biggest club in Saudi Arabia and Asia and we will do everything to win," Mendy told the Associated Press, emphasizing Al-Ahli's determination to replicate their recent success.

The 32-team tournament operates through a two-zone geographic format during the group stages, with the top eight teams from each zone advancing to the knockout rounds. The structure ensures competitive balance while allowing clubs from across Asia to compete for the continental title. The competition will provide Ronaldo with a significant opportunity to add another trophy to his collection during his tenure in the Saudi Pro League.
