The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has begun utilising a new runway at Changi Air Base East, marking a milestone in the country's military aviation infrastructure. The runway, stretching 3,660 metres in length and 60 metres in width, has been engineered to support the full spectrum of the RSAF's fast jet operations.
A key feature of the new facility is its arresting equipment system, designed to safely recover aircraft that may be damaged or experiencing performance degradation. The technology enables pilots to bring compromised fast jets to a controlled stop, minimising risk and preserving valuable defence assets.
The transition to the new runway at Changi Air Base East enhances the RSAF's operational resilience and capacity. The expanded infrastructure supports Singapore's continued investment in maintaining a credible air defence posture in the region.
