Transport Minister Anthony Loke has dismissed suggestions that the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS Link) is experiencing delays, emphasising that the joint Malaysia-Singapore project remains on track for its planned timeline. Speaking in Johor Bahru on Tuesday, Loke explained that what some observers have interpreted as postponement is in fact a necessary buffer period designed to ensure all safety approvals are properly completed before operations commence.

The minister stressed that both countries have mutually agreed to allocate additional time within the project schedule to satisfy regulatory requirements and safety standards. This administrative phase is a standard component of major cross-border infrastructure projects, particularly those involving rapid transit systems where passenger safety is paramount.

The RTS Link, a key component of regional connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore, continues to progress through its development and approval stages. Officials from both nations have maintained regular coordination to ensure the project meets the stringent safety and operational standards required for a modern rapid transit corridor.

Loke's clarification aims to reassure stakeholders and commuters who may be concerned about the project's delivery timeline. With joint oversight and agreed protocols in place, the two countries remain committed to bringing the RTS Link into operation according to the established schedule.
