Rupee strengthens as oil prices fall below $90 mark
The Indian rupee climbed to a multi-day high against the dollar, buoyed by central bank support and easing crude oil prices. Bond yields also declined in tandem with the improving sentiment.

The rupee appreciated 0.35 per cent on Tuesday, closing at 95.41 per dollar as a combination of factors lent support to the domestic currency. The Reserve Bank of India's continued intervention in the forex market, coupled with softening crude oil prices, provided the primary catalyst for the rupee's outperformance relative to other regional currencies.
Crude oil's descent below the $90 per barrel mark proved particularly supportive for India's external position, given the country's substantial dependence on petroleum imports. The fall in global energy prices is expected to ease pressure on the nation's current account deficit and reduce inflationary pressures from rising fuel costs.
Benchmark government bond yields also eased during the trading session, reflecting the broader risk-on sentiment sweeping through Indian markets. The combination of a stronger rupee and lower borrowing costs could provide some relief to policymakers balancing growth concerns against inflation management.
The rupee's performance on Tuesday underscored the currency's sensitivity to crude oil dynamics and RBI policy moves, both of which remain critical variables for India's macroeconomic outlook in coming weeks.
