Rupee strengthens to one-month peak as oil prices ease
The Indian rupee climbed to its strongest level in over a month against the US dollar, while benchmark bond yields retreated as crude oil prices declined. The currency and debt market movements suggest easing inflationary pressures in the near term.

The rupee closed at 94.47 against the dollar on Tuesday, marking its best performance since October 21. The currency's appreciation reflects a combination of factors including a moderation in global crude oil prices, which have eased pressure on India's import bill and external account.
The gains in the rupee were mirrored in the debt market, where the benchmark 10-year government bond yield declined to 7.17 per cent. The lower yields indicate reduced expectations of near-term inflation and suggest improved sentiment among fixed-income investors regarding the economic outlook.
Crude oil prices, a key driver of inflation in India, have retreated from recent highs, providing relief to policymakers at the Reserve Bank of India. Lower oil import costs typically support the rupee by reducing the country's current account deficit and easing demand for foreign currency.
The rupee's recent strength comes amid broader stabilization in emerging market currencies as global financial conditions show signs of steadiness. Analysts note that sustained moderation in commodity prices could provide continued support to the rupee and keep bond yields anchored in coming weeks.
