Rural elections to begin in three Andhra Pradesh districts under tight security

Rural elections will commence on November 5 across three districts in Andhra Pradesh, with authorities implementing heightened security protocols to ensure smooth conduct of the polls. The election process will cover Chittoor, Annamayya and Sri Sathya Sai districts, encompassing a significant number of local government positions.

The electoral exercise will determine the outcome for 84 Zilla Parishad Territory Constituency (ZPTC) seats and 1,087 Mandal Parishad Territory Constituency (MPTC) seats distributed across 84 mandals in the three districts. These grassroots-level elections are crucial for local governance and representation in villages and smaller administrative units.

Three ZPTC seats in both Chittoor and Annamayya districts have already been declared elected unopposed, reducing the total number of contested positions in these constituencies. The remaining seats across all three districts will proceed to general polls as scheduled.

Security arrangements have been prioritized ahead of the November 5 polling date to maintain law and order and prevent any electoral malpractices. Officials have been positioned to oversee the election process and ensure compliance with electoral regulations across all polling stations in the region.
