Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi stated that spending on the Rural Road Development Programme (KKDW) has not exceeded RM2.1 billion as previously reported, with actual outlays standing at RM6.108 billion against a revised budget of RM6.143 billion.
Zahid's clarification addresses concerns raised about potential cost overruns in the infrastructure initiative, which aims to improve connectivity in Malaysia's rural areas. The programme remains within its adjusted allocation, indicating effective financial management and budget oversight.
The Rural Road Development Programme is a key component of the government's infrastructure development strategy, targeting improved road connectivity and economic opportunities in underserved communities across the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister's statement underscores the administration's commitment to fiscal discipline while pursuing its rural development agenda. Officials have attributed the controlled spending to better project planning and execution monitoring across participating states and federal territories.
