The two senior diplomats met at a regional security gathering where they reviewed the trajectory of Russia-China relations and exchanged views on major geopolitical flashpoints affecting Asia and beyond, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The talks reflected Moscow and Beijing's efforts to present a unified stance on key international issues amid shifting global alliances. The Ukraine crisis and developments in Iran were among the primary topics on the agenda, underscoring shared concerns about US-led Western policies in their respective spheres of influence.
Bilateral cooperation between Russia and China has intensified significantly in recent years, particularly following Western sanctions imposed on Moscow. The two nations have emphasized their partnership as a counterbalance to Western hegemony and have deepened economic, military and diplomatic coordination.
The Asia security forum provided a platform for the foreign ministers to engage with counterparts from across the region while reinforcing the Moscow-Beijing alignment on contested international matters. Such high-level meetings have become increasingly important as regional powers navigate complex security challenges and competing interests in South and Southeast Asia.
