Russia-Vietnam people-to-people forum opens as ties deepen

The second Russia-Vietnam people-to-people diplomacy forum opened in Saint Petersburg, with representatives from both nations emphasizing the role of cultural and civil society exchanges in reinforcing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Government officials underscored how direct people-to-people contacts complement traditional diplomatic channels and contribute to deeper mutual understanding between the two countries. The forum provided a platform for discussing shared interests and collaborative initiatives across various domains.

As part of strengthening bilateral ties, Russia has waived visa requirements for Vietnamese tourists, a move aimed at facilitating travel and cultural exchange between the two nations. The decision is expected to boost visitor numbers and enhance tourism cooperation.

Beyond tourism, Vietnam and Russia are expanding practical cooperation in criminal sentence enforcement and sharing expertise in human resource development. These initiatives reflect the broadening scope of engagement between Moscow and Hanoi as they work to deepen their strategic partnership across economic, social, and administrative spheres.
