Russia warns US missile deployment in Norway derails nuclear dialogue

Russia's foreign ministry issued a stark warning on Wednesday, stating that the United States deployment of ground-based intermediate-range missiles in Europe has effectively nullified conditions for constructive dialogue on strategic issues between Moscow and Washington.

The ministry characterised the move as a significant setback to any prospect of meaningful talks, saying the weapons systems posed a direct threat to Russian security interests. Officials described the situation using blunt language, suggesting the deployment had "reset to zero" diplomatic possibilities on arms control and strategic stability.

The statement underscores deepening rifts between Russia and the West over military posturing in Europe, particularly following recent security developments in the region.
