Russian drone attack on Kyiv during Indian FM's visit repelled: Zelenskyy

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with President Zelenskyy during an official visit to Kyiv on Thursday, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between India and Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing military campaign.

Shortly after the meeting, Zelenskyy posted on social media that Russian forces had conducted a drone strike targeting the Ukrainian capital during the Indian delegation's presence in the city. The Ukrainian president stated that the country's air defence systems successfully neutralised the threat.

"We shot down the Russian drone," Zelenskyy said, emphasising that the Indian visitors remained secure throughout the incident. The statement underscored Ukraine's ability to maintain security protocols even as it faces continuous aerial bombardment from Russian forces.

Jaishankar's visit to Kyiv represents India's sustained diplomatic engagement with Ukraine at the highest levels. The visit comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region, with Russia maintaining its military offensive against Ukrainian targets, including critical infrastructure in major cities.
