The drone strike targeted a major commercial complex in Kryvyi Rih, a significant industrial and population centre in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, on Monday. Emergency services responded to the attack, treating the wounded and recovering victims from the damaged facility.
Kryvyi Rih, located approximately 400 kilometres southeast of the capital Kyiv, has faced repeated Russian bombardment throughout the conflict. The city's strategic location and infrastructure have made it a recurring target for Russian strikes using missiles and unmanned weapons systems.
The attack underscores the continued threat posed by Russian aerial operations against civilian infrastructure and populated areas across Ukraine. Shopping centres and other public spaces have been hit repeatedly throughout the conflict, resulting in substantial civilian casualties.
Ukrainian officials have condemned the strike and called for increased international support for air defence systems. The incident adds to mounting civilian losses from Russia's military operations since the invasion began in February 2022.
