Russian missile strikes leave half of Ukraine without power

Russian missile strikes targeting critical energy facilities across Ukraine have disrupted power supplies to roughly half the country, officials said. The overnight and early morning attacks struck energy infrastructure in multiple regions including Lviv, crippling generation and distribution capabilities across a broad swath of the nation.

Ukrainian authorities reported that twelve regions experienced complete or partial power outages following the coordinated assault on energy infrastructure. The attacks have forced emergency protocols into effect as the country grapples with severe supply constraints.

To manage the crisis and prevent equipment damage from power surges, Ukrainian officials announced severe restrictions on industrial electricity consumption nationwide. The measures include mandatory load-shedding, with some regions experiencing rolling blackouts on an hourly schedule.

The strikes represent a continued Russian strategy of targeting Ukraine's energy sector, which has become a focal point of the military campaign. Officials did not immediately provide estimates on when full power restoration would be achieved across affected regions.
