Kyiv authorities reported new Russian air strikes hitting the Southern Bridge on Wednesday, marking another attack on the Ukrainian capital's vital transport infrastructure. The strikes caused significant disruption to civilian movement, with both the Southern Bridge and the adjacent Paton Bridge closed to traffic in both directions pending damage assessment and clearance operations.
The twin closures severed a major transit corridor across the Dnieper River in the heart of the city, affecting commuters and commercial traffic. Officials indicated that bridge access would remain restricted until safety inspections were completed.
The bombardment represents the latest in a sustained campaign targeting Kyiv's critical infrastructure. Russian forces have repeatedly struck transport networks, power facilities and civilian areas throughout the conflict, intensifying pressure on Ukraine's urban centers.
Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed details of the strikes through official channels, underscoring the ongoing threat posed by aerial attacks on the city's essential services and civilian population.
