A teenager in Russia narrowly escaped a potentially fatal bear attack after his smartphone detonated during the encounter, forcing the animal to retreat. The 15-year-old was subjected to an initial mauling by the bear before the device exploded, an incident that ultimately disrupted the attack.

While the smartphone explosion provided an unintended defense mechanism against the predator, the boy did not emerge unscathed from the ordeal. He sustained significant injuries from the bear's initial assault, including lacerations and trauma from the mauling.

Additionally, the teenager suffered burn injuries from the exploding device itself, compounding his medical needs following the encounter. Emergency responders treated the youth for the combined injuries sustained during the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the smartphone's explosion remain under examination. Wildlife authorities are also investigating the bear encounter to understand how the animal came into contact with the teenager in the area.
