Sabah activates haze action plan across three districts

Sabah has activated its Haze Coordinating Operations Centre (PKOB) across three districts as air quality conditions worsen across the state. The move comes after five areas were elevated to Alert Level 1A status under the National Haze Action Plan, signalling serious air pollution concerns.

More than 200 personnel have been deployed to respond to the haze situation, reflecting the scale of the air quality crisis affecting multiple regions. The activation of the coordinating centres is aimed at improving inter-agency coordination and accelerating response measures to protect public health.

Alert Level 1A is the highest warning classification under Malaysia's National Haze Action Plan, typically triggered when Air Pollutant Index readings reach hazardous levels. This designation requires immediate action from relevant authorities to mitigate the impact on residents and implement emergency protocols.

The deployment underscores growing concerns over transboundary haze in the region and the state's commitment to managing the environmental and health impacts on communities. Authorities are expected to intensify monitoring and coordinate preventive measures across affected districts.
