Tawau's geographical position straddling the border with Indonesia's North Kalimantan region places it in close proximity to transboundary pollution sources. The API measurement indicates a significant shift in air quality, with readings in this range typically warranting cautions for children, elderly persons, and those with respiratory conditions.
