Sabah Medical Association Urges Urgent Doctor Deployment from Peninsula

The Sabah branch of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has urged the Ministry of Health to expedite a structured temporary deployment programme for medical doctors from Peninsular Malaysia to address acute staffing challenges in the state. The move seeks to prioritize healthcare facilities experiencing the most severe personnel shortages and operational pressures. According to the MMA Sabah, the initiative would help alleviate the burden on overstretched medical teams while ensuring continuity of patient care across the state's health system. The association emphasised that the programme should be rolled out urgently, targeting facilities facing the most critical workload demands. By bringing in medical professionals from the peninsula on a temporary basis, the health authorities could better distribute resources and improve service delivery at overwhelmed healthcare institutions throughout Sabah.
