KOTA KINABALU, Oct 9 — Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has expressed support for the 2027 National Budget, characterising it as a comprehensive fiscal framework designed to ease the economic burden on Malaysians across the country.
The state's allocation of RM18.6 billion reflects the federal government's commitment to developing Sabah, one of Malaysia's largest states by land area. Hajiji noted that the budget addresses key priorities including infrastructure development, public services, and social welfare programmes that directly impact residents' quality of life.
The chief minister's endorsement aligns with broader government efforts to balance fiscal responsibility with meeting the needs of ordinary Malaysians facing rising living costs. The 2027 budget represents a continuation of targeted spending aimed at supporting economic growth while providing relief through various assistance schemes and development initiatives.
As one of Malaysia's key regional economies, Sabah's substantial budget allocation is expected to support ongoing projects in sectors including agriculture, tourism, and transportation infrastructure. The funding is anticipated to create employment opportunities and strengthen the state's economic foundation heading into 2027.
