SAI bolsters Indian contingent support ahead of 2026 Asian Games in Japan

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) announced on Tuesday that it has strengthened logistics and welfare arrangements for Indian competitors at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, addressing accommodation gaps and mobility challenges for the contingent.

Among the key measures, SAI has arranged dedicated transport for shooting teams and secured additional rooms for coaches and support staff members who could not be accommodated by the Games Organising Committee. The authority has also deployed medical support vehicles to facilitate movement between competition venues, ensuring athletes receive timely medical attention during the Games.

A dedicated Reception and Assistance Team comprising representatives from the Sports Authority of India, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and the Indian Embassy in Japan has been stationed at the airport. The team will assist with arrival formalities, provide refreshments, and guide athletes, coaches and support personnel to their Games venues and accommodation facilities.

The arrangement addresses logistical complexities arising from venue locations. The shooting competition will be held in Toyota city in Aichi prefecture, situated over 75 kilometers from Nagoya, necessitating coordinated transport arrangements to ensure athletes can reach training and competition sites efficiently. SAI's measures aim to minimize operational challenges and allow the Indian contingent to focus on optimal performance at the regional Games.
