TACLOBAN CITY — The municipal government of Pagsanghan, Samar, is implementing a four-day onsite workweek to manage resource consumption during the severe El Niño conditions currently impacting the province.

Under the new arrangement announced by Mayor Sed Hendrix Tan, municipal offices will operate Monday through Thursday, with employees required to work remotely on Fridays. The measure aims to reduce electricity and water consumption across government facilities during the extended dry period.

The shift represents an adaptation strategy by local authorities responding to the broader Super El Niño phenomenon affecting the broader region. The municipality's decision reflects growing efforts by local government units to implement climate-responsive policies that balance service delivery with environmental sustainability.

The compressed schedule is expected to maintain operational efficiency while generating measurable savings in utility costs. Officials have indicated the arrangement will remain in effect for the duration of the El Niño event, though provisions for emergency services and essential personnel remain in place.
