San Roque Dam halts spillway operations as water levels stabilize

The San Roque Multipurpose Dam in San Manuel, Pangasinan, suspended its spillway discharge on Tuesday evening as water elevation levels reached manageable thresholds. The National Power Corporation (Napocor) sealed both spillway gates—designated 2A and 2B—at 7:30 p.m., with gate 2A closed to one meter and gate 2B to 1.5 meters, according to the state-owned power utility.

The closure marked the end of active spillway operations at the facility, which serves multiple functions including power generation, irrigation support, and flood management across the region. The decision to halt discharge reflected improved hydrological conditions in the reservoir and surrounding watershed areas.

San Roque Dam, one of Pangasinan's critical water infrastructure facilities, regularly adjusts its operations based on rainfall patterns, reservoir water levels, and downstream water requirements. The facility coordinates closely with local government units and irrigation districts to balance power generation with agricultural and community water needs.
