MANILA — The Sandiganbayan has dismissed a graft complaint filed against Department of Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Domingo Razon Tolentino Jr., ruling that the anti-graft court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case.

In a 17-page resolution, the court's Fifth Division, headed by Associate Justice Gener Gito, granted Tolentino's motion to quash the charges. The decision centers on jurisdictional issues that prevented the Sandiganbayan from proceeding with the graft allegations against the DTI official.

The ruling represents a significant development for Tolentino, who had challenged the court's authority to hear the case. The Sandiganbayan, officially known as the Sandiganbayan (Sandiganbayan ng Republika ng Pilipinas), is tasked with handling cases involving graft and corruption allegations against high-ranking government officials and employees.

The dismissal does not necessarily address the merits of the allegations but rather removes the case from the anti-graft court's purview. The decision could have implications for how similar cases are handled in the future regarding the appropriate venue for graft complaints against government executives.
