Sandiganbayan summons Romualdez for hospital confinement hearing

MANILA — The Sandiganbayan Third Division has directed former House Speaker Martin Romualdez to appear before the anti-graft court on Thursday, September 10, for proceedings on his motion for continued hospital confinement.

Romualdez, who is facing charges in a non-bailable plunder case, remains hospitalized and has not yet made an appearance before the court. The summons requires his presence at the scheduled hearing regarding his request to remain under hospital care.

The Sandiganbayan, the country's special anti-corruption court, has jurisdiction over plunder cases involving high-ranking government officials. The appearance order marks a significant development in the case against the former legislative leader.

Romualdez's legal team is expected to present arguments supporting the motion for continued hospitalization during the September 10 hearing. The court's decision on the matter will be announced following the proceedings.
